365 TESTIMONIES OF HOSPITALITY

19 years ago I had to stand in for a Bacteriologist at the laboratory at La Ceja hospital; I had come from a public hospital and having been given the good fortune to become acquainted with the charism which you feel in the Saint John of God Hospital at La Ceja-Antioquia and which is expressed by every one of the Brothers and Co-workers who have worked in it, ‘infecting’ me with the Charism of Hospitality, to show human/Christian and social sensitivity and be able to provide comprehensive care to needy people, respecting their dignity and defending their rights.

Here I have been able to learn to work responsibly and with commitment, and realise that the most important thing was to be able to show dedication and Hospitality as a person and, professionally, as a bacteriologist. Over these 19 years I have played an active part in the Pastoral Care Committee and all the institutional activities, oriented to ensure that the great Saint John of God family, and especially our guests, who are the reason underlying the St John of God legacy, receive humanised care and services, so that no-one who comes to one of our centres goes away without having received at least word of consolation.

It is a source of satisfaction to be another ambassador and play an active part in the mission of Saint John of God, in which my goal must always be to serve and to do “good, well done” in the manner of our Patron.
