Hospitality is about welcome, respect, openness.  Hospitality can and does have a ripple effect.  For me it is about being gracious and humble.

In my daily work I encourage an atmosphere of hospitality, welcoming those who come to the door, simple gestures such as a cup of tea, a chat, a kind word and a smile.

Supporting my staff team in any way I can, in times of sadness, difficulties and also in time of joy.  Hospitality is the core value of the work we do, supporting those in our care and treating each other with respect and understanding.

We are living in challenging and interesting times, men and women attending our services are coming from different cultures, with varying life experience and I suppose I feel hospitality is a common denominator in this area.  We all respond to being shown hospitality and to being made welcome.

If we truly live from a sense of hospitality we will be people of hope and joy, we will welcome all and not be fearful of new things.

To sum up when I look at the Pomegranate (symbol of the Saint John of God Hospitaller Order) as it opens and the seeds pour out I see this as hospitality pouring out to those we work with, live with and meet on our journey through life.
