I have had the good fortune to have spent 27 years in this house, joining it three months after the inauguration of the Tejar Center.  It has been my pleasure to have known many Brothers of great qualities, formed by the Order in the charism of service, and I have been able to learn some of this as well.  It makes me happy; it has helped me in my life, in my home, and in everything, because the experience I have gained is a great thing and I have been able to share it with my children, my wife, and - here in my work - with many other people.  And I give thanks to God for having brought me to this house and the Hospitaller Order.

I have also been able to participate in some of their spiritual retreats, where one can renew one’s commitment to God and to the Order.

I was able to meet Brother Antonio Rangel whom I admire as a great individual, as well as many other Brothers, including Brother Elias who left a lasting effect on me:  the Brothers were going out early in the morning for the daily dawn Mass and there was a drunken man on the sidewalk.  Brother Elias went over to him, spoke to him, and asked him “what are you doing here?”  Then he removed his overcoat and gave it to the drunken man.  This experience had a great impact on me.  And it wasn’t the only one.
