I have worked for 21 years at Evergreen Center in Seoul, Korea. This is a rehabilitation center for young people with learning disabilities, with a goal of offering holistic care to the clients. From the sacrament of baptism I have the words of the Lord: 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least of my brothers you did for me.'  This teaching focused my working life for 21 years at the center and was a cane upon which I could lean when I was tired and in despair. Looking back on the past 21 years I recall with satisfaction how I comforted and shared the broken hearts of the family members of the clients; connected volunteers and benefactors who generously share their time and money with the clients; listened to and supported the weary co-workers. I am really grateful to God for leading me to Evergreen Center where I can match my life, inspired by the words of the Lord, with the life of St. John of God who committed his life to the poor, the sick and the marginalized. I always feel I am lacking in my abilities to help the clients but I am empowered and energized by the warm understanding and forgiveness of the Family of St. John of God.
