I entered the Hospitaller Order in 1992. In 1990 I was on retreat at St. Andrew's Abbey where I met Brother George, who had driven another Brother to see his spiritual director. He introduced himself and told me about St. John of God. The following day I saw my spiritual director and after telling him about whom I met, he looked me square in the eyes saying, “There is your vocation." Presently I live in Apple Valley, CA, ministering at Our Lady of the Desert Parish assisting our pastor in various functions. Visiting the homebound, visiting St. Mary Medical Center, Vigil Services at local funeral homes, graveside services, bereavement counselling and journeying with drug and alcohol addicted persons to receive the help they need. As you can see the Spirit of St. John of God permeates the parish in many ways. In 2001 I professed Solemn Vows. My ROAD to GRANADA began (in hind sight) in 1985 when I was asked to take Communion to Long Beach Community Hospital where there were persons living with HIV and/or AIDS but no one wanted to go near them, not even the parish priests. Here my journey began and to date I have had the privilege of serving the people of God in the leprosy of this age. As a banker from 1962 to 1992 we charged interest on loans, but today my "interest" is somewhat different but the "dividends" are eternal. My vocational journey is still on the ROAD to GRANADA.....Amen Jesus.
