I am a PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER in my centre, working in the Saint John of God’s Special School. The work is directly concerned with providing alternative complementary therapy to the residents in the Centre and looking after the non-resident students who come to our School, using physical exercise to encourage and sensitise them to improve their health and quality of life. We use the most motivating and creative teaching methodologies and plans that really meet the needs of our students, and concrete and coherent activities which benefit the physical development and the motorial abilities of the students, encouraging them to participate in my classes. Since most of them are institutionalised, my tasks include not only physical/motor rehabilitation but also creating opportunities for the Co-workers and residents to integrate, providing channels to stimulate the practice of social skills and values to promote social coexistence. I also help to keep company with various who need it, because of their health problems or because of sometimes our students never leave the pavilions.
