Hospitality, for me, means welcoming the needy, whatever their needs may be, with sincere joy, and in a naturally sincere manner, and the conviction that what we do for others is what fills us with life and gives a meaning to our life.
This loving welcome may be extended with professional skill to people with disabilities and in the healthcare world, providing them with comprehensive and holistic care, taking account not only of the medical aspects, but also the psychological, social and spiritual needs of the sick person and their family environment; and it also applies to the social world, and in many cases the social-healthcare world, and to provide a welcome, assistance and support for the individual, offering to meet their most essential needs, such as food and a roof over their head, and support them to become once again incorporated into society.
For me, Hospitality means seeing Jesus in others, dealing with, helping and listening to them, and giving oneself to others, seeing His face in others, following the example of the care St John of God gave to all the needy.
