I feel happy to belong to the Saint John of God Family as a volunteer at the service of those who are suffering, which I consider to be part of my life and a blessing of God. I joined the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, in the Colombian Province, 14 years ago at the San Rafael Hospital in Bogotá, where I began to discover the spirit and the values of the Order which have motivated me to pursue this noble mission, supported at all times by the example of the Brothers who live Hospitality as faithful witnesses to the charism. Their vocation and commitment has stimulated my dedication to serve the sick and needy, enabling me to broaden my sphere of action to include the Saint John of God Hospital at Chía and now the hospital of Nuestra Señora de la Paz. I thank God for enabling me to share with the Brothers, the Co-workers and the other volunteers our commitment to solidarity and charity, following the spirit of Saint John of God, Saint John Grande and Saint Benedict Menni. In this worthwhile vocation I am happy because I have grown in human, and spiritual terms, and as a volunteer of the Order.

I pray that the Order’s Vocations Year will be a stimulus to further enhance the hospitality of St John of God.
