1          The Commission and its members

 

In view of the increasingly close political links throughout Europe it became necessary to coordinate the European Provinces more effectively by encouraging them to work more closely together. To achieve this purpose, for the first time in 2007 the General Curia instituted a calculation for the Europe Region. It is therefore the most recent regional Commission to have been created.

 

The Europe Commission meets twice a year as a rule and a joint meeting of all the European Provincials is convene to coincide with the Assemblies of Major Superiors.

Bro. Eugeniusz Kret, Provincial Superior of the Polish Province, Warsaw

2          General purpose of the Commission

 

To promote and sustain the regional implementation of the resolutions adopted by the Order (by Chapters and/or the General Curia);

To monitor ecclesial, political and social developments in Europe;

To assess the implications for the Order and examine the possibilities for offering assistance;

To foster exchanges of experience between the Provinces;

To analyse possibilities for practical cooperation;

To help the Order’s “Hospitality Europe” Brussels Office to set down issues and projects for

development;

To prepare the agenda for the Europe Region Conference according to the guidelines laid

down by the General Curia.

 

 

3          The Commission’s operational objectives and working methods

 

To promote and sustain the regional implementation of resolution adopted by Order (by Chapters and/or the General Curia):

  • To follow-up the resolutions and lines of action of the 2012 General Chapter;

  • To support and implement the animation of the General Government in the Europe Region;

  • To ensure that follow and study of resolutions adopted by the Regional Conferences.

     

    To monitor ecclesial, political and social developments in Europe:

  • At every meeting, to organise an exchange between the members regarding the global situation and to reach an assessment of it;

  • Place around the possibility of working with the organisation and/or institutions to be acquainted with developments and trends in good time.

     

    To assess the implications for the Order and examine the possibilities for offering assistance:

  • If the developments examined portend consequences for the Order or issues to be resolved, these consequences and issues are examined with experts;

  • To convey the results of the consultations and search for solutions to the General Council;

  • At times of crisis, to see what is needed assistance can be offered through another Province.

     

    To foster exchanges of experience between the Provinces:

  • To examine ongoing developments in the Provinces;

  • To promote the exchange of information on initiatives, events and developments of particular importance and relevance to Europe;

  • To link the Provinces working on the same issue and/or sharing experiences in regard to the matter in hand;

  • Promote the exchange of Co-workers for the purposes of know-how transfer;

  • To foster the organisation of training and formation activities and conferences within Europe.

     

    To analyse possibilities for practical cooperation:

  • To encourage cooperation through the Order’s Brussels Office http://www.hospitality-europe.eu;

  • To support and promote the work of the General Curia’s Missions and International Cooperation Office;

  • To bolster the work of the Interprovincial Commissions working within Europe.

     

    -           To help the Order’s “Hospitality Europe” Brussels Office to set down issues and projects for development;

  • To adopt the Office budget;

  • To adopt the accounts for the year;

  • To analyse the fundamental issues arising in the Provinces and, where necessary and appropriate, to submit them to the Office;

  • To foster networking between Provinces;

  • To cooperate to build up as complete and updated as possible set of care statistics on the Centres of the Order in Europe.   

     

    -           To prepare the agenda for the Europe Region Conference according to the guidelines laid down by the General Curia.

  • To incorporate the issues deemed fundamental to the Province;

  • To take account of the many European developments in the agenda.

     

     

    4          Subcommissions created to coordinate and work to achieve as well as possible the pre-established objectives

     

    Vocations Promotion and Formation

     

    General objective: to network with the General Commission on Vocations Promotion/Pastoral Care and Formation (CVPF), motivating and accompanying the the officials responsible for Formation to promote a Hospitality culture in Europe.

    Pastoral Care of the Sick and Social Pastoral Care

     

    General objective: to promote and galvanise the pastoral care of the sick and social pastoral care in the Europe region based on the implementation of the Pastoral Care Document in all the European Provinces.

    In addition to these subcommissions, a number of ad hoc working groups have been set up for the present Sexennium, to deal with specific matters such as preparing for World Youth Day 2016 in Kraków, organising the European Congress of vocational training schools in the Order in Europe etc..
