I am a candidate of the Sisters of Charity of St. John of God. As the only child of my parents, I had a very happy childhood. I felt a call from God at the time of my first Holy Communion. But I held that dream in my heart. When I finished high School I told my parents about my dream. My parents were not ready to lose me because I was their only child. I understood their pain so I waited. The untimely death of my father made me understand that God’s plan is very different to our plan. Before I recovered from the death of my father, God took my mother to his home. Thus I became an orphan on this earth. I fel that God was saying to me: “I have lead you through various painful moments, I am your father and mother, I need you to wipe away the tears of those who suffer”. And so I was called to join the Congregation of the Sisters of St. John of God. I could understand and mingle with the elderly people and children at Pretheeksha Bhavan. I felt called to wipe their tears and consecrate my life to God. Si, I became a Sister of Charity of St. John of God. If we realize the greatness of our choices, we need not be worried or sorry for what we have given up in life. The secret of a religious vocation is to find one’s true treasure.
