I am a chaplain in St. John of God Hospital in Gwangju, Korea.  I really enjoy this mission and am very happy in this role. As a St John of God Brother, I realized that working in pastoral care was very suitable for me.  I think that pastoral care is very close to the kind of work carried out by St. John of God when he provided both practical and spiritual care for his patients at Granada. To spend time listening to patients and neighbors in need is my fundamental obligation as a Hospitaller Brother. Providing pastoral care gives me opportunities to look deeply into myself, which helps my spiritual growth. Personally, I often feel that I am often lacking in the necessary abilities to help others. But I consider that it is not possible to live or carry out the charism of hospitality if we don’t realize that we are all imperfect human beings and that we should try to challenge our limits and weaknesses. Pastoral care activity is very helpful to deal with the problems and hurts of the pastoral care giver as well as meeting the various needs of clients, their families and co-workers in the hospital.  I really feel that I am following the footsteps of St. John of God when I am functioning as a chaplain and as a member of the pastoral team.  I am very proud and appreciate my vocation as a Brother and imitator of St John of God.
