I first came into contact with the Hospitaller and heard for the first time about charism and the mission and Works of St John of God when I took part as a volunteer in a Project at the psychiatric centre of Zapopan.
The same year I had the chance to go and work to work with them as administrative director. That is how I went through a period that was like a rollercoaster given the economic difficulties facing the Order in my country. The situation required resolve and commitment on the part of all the members of the community.
Over the year, thanks to the presence of colleagues arriving from the whole world – people who, although from different cultures pursued the same objectives – I matured and began to understand the meaning of the gift of the vocation to serve the poorest. Today I am Director General.
I am grateful to the Hospitaller Order, which gives its lay Co-Workers a spiritual space enabling them to become full members of the Hospitaller family and to work with renewed enthusiasm.
