New Hospitaller Mission in Equatorial Guinea
Responding
to
the request of the Superior General as a
result of the invitation from the Diocesan Bishop of Mongomo (Equatorial
Guinea), the Brothers of the African Province of Saint Richard Pampuri arrived
in this territory during Holy Week to launch a new foundation.
The Brothers were received in Bata by Father Fermin MBA MBENA, with the official welcome on 27 March
2024 by the Ordinary, Bishop Juan
Domingo BEKA, of the Congregation of the Claretian Missionaries, on their arrival at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in
Mongomo.
This first delegation, accompanied
by the Provincial Superior, Brother Hugues Tatoa ASSOU, comprised:
Brother Éric FOLLY (Fraternity leader)
Brother Cosme HAMAHOUZO
Brother Fidèle SANHONGOU
After
committing this new mission project to the maternal care of Our Lady, Patroness of Hospitality, and to our Father Saint John of God
during the first prayer of welcome praying
that the
Charism of Hospitality will germinate in this place and
flourish for the good of the sick and needy people, the Brothers were able to spend the first few days there jointly
participating in celebrating Holy Week
with the people of God of this diocese.
These first
steps will allow us to become thoroughly immersed in the lives of the people in
need of health care, kick-starting the mission with an out-patient department.
Before his
departure, the Provincial Superior once again expressed our Order's gratitude to
the Bishop, Mgr Juan Domingo Beka, for his warm welcome, and committed this
project to Our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, praying that His Light will guide the
steps of these first Brothers in this new mission land.
