The European MOVE ON project is launched

The new MOVE ON project - for which the 'Hospitality Europe' Office in Brussels had submitted an application - was officially launched at an initial videoconference on 29 January. This project is dedicated to rehabilitating patients through personalised motor activity and exercise programmes performed in special areas within social and healthcare facilities.

It will run for 18 months until the summer of 2025 with the participation of the Saint John of God Centre in Kainbach bei Graz (Austria), the Saint John of God Foundation in Lisbon (Portugal), the Saint John of God Hospital in Santa Cruz dei Tenerife (Spain), the Saint John of God Institute in Genzano di Roma (Italy) together with the Purísima Concepción Foundation of the Hospitaller Sisters in Granada (Spain). The original title of the project is "MOtivating patients to Voluntary physical Exercise Outside Nursing programmes" (acronym in English: MOVE ON) and its aim is to share and promote the most effective programmes in Europe to maintain psycho-physical health through regular physical activity by the guests in these Centres even after they have completed their therapy and treatment cycles, and to accompany them to ensure that they follow a healthy diet and show the importance of diagnostic prevention and respect for the environment. The MOVE ON project was highly highly rated by the European Commission as it contributes very specifically and directly to the EU's 'HealthyLifeStyle4All' initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle for all generations and social groups, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of Europe's citizens.

In addition to activities taking place in the individual centres, the partners will organise three transnational meetings: in Genzano di Roma and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2024,  concluding the project with a final meeting in Kainbach bei Graz in 2025.

The activities organised by the new MOVE ON project will also be documented on the European office's website www.hospitality-europe.eu
