First Meeting of Community Superiors
St John of God Province of Latin America and the Caribbean
Under the theme: "Go
forth with passion to promote Hospitality", the First Meeting of Community
Superiors of the St John of God Province of Latin America and the Caribbean is
currently in progress, from 26 to 29 April, in Bogotá, Colombia. The purpose of
the meeting is the formation of the Brothers as leaders of hospitality in the
communities. Among the matters presented are: The Art of being Brothers:
Challenges of synodality in the life of the Hospitaller Brother, presented by
Sister Daniela Cannavina HCMR, Secretary General of CLAR, and The community, as
the place where we become brothers, A stranger on the road: Chapter II of the
Encyclical Fratelli Tutti, Human Maturity, community and continuing formation,
presented by Father Arturo Moscoso of the Society of Jesus; and Authority at
the service of fraternity, presented by Father Gabriel Naranjo of the
Vincentians.
A round table discussion has
been held under the title: Hospitality: a prophetic value that responds to the current
situation of the Church today. This topic was addressed from various
perspectives by Bro. Erik Castillo, the Provincial Superior, Brother Dairon
Meneses, General Councillor, Brother
Juan José Ávila, Director of the Juan Ciudad Foundation of Spain, Father
Gabriel Naranjo CM, Eng. Julian Medina, Director of the St John of God Province
of Latin America and the Caribbean, and Brother Jesús Etayo, our Superior
General.
The meeting is attended by 22
superiors from the Province's 23 communities as well as the Provincial Superior
and his Council.
