Hospitality Europe
European projects
Over the past few weeks, there have been several meetings in connection
with the European projects being promoted by the Brussels Hospitality Europe
office.
Co-workers from the centres implementing the VICTORIA project (www.victoriaproject.net) and the
SAVE project (www.project-save.eu) met in Lisbon and Barcelona,
respectively, both dedicated to the protection and care of victims of violence.
Both projects focus on training social care and healthcare personnel to offer
effective medical and psychological support to patients and children exposed to
violence or trauma within their family or social environment. Local authorities
have also been involved to reinforce cooperation with healthcare facilities and
to ensure that effective action is taken whenever violence has been detected.
For the MOVE project, (www.move-project.net ) the third transnational
meeting was convened in Graz at the Order's local Centre, with a visit to the
care facilities in Kainbach, where more than 600 people with intellectual
disabilities are accommodated, with some 1,000 co-workers. An event was also
attended by officials from the Graz Town Council and the organisation 'Special
Olympics Austria' on inclusive sport for people with intellectual disabilities.
On 26 May, a digital event was organised to unveil the results of the
BeWATER project (www.bewatererasmus.eu) once again
jointly implemented in Spain by centres of the Order and the Sisters
Hospitallers.
1 June will see the launch of the new AGELESS project dedicated to
programmes and methods to prevent the risk of the premature ageing of people
with intellectual disabilities or neuro-cognitive deficits. Coordinated by the
Hospitaller Sisters' rehabilitation centre in Funchal (Portugal), it involves
centres of both Institutes in Portugal, Spain and France.
