Brother Paul-Marie Taufana, re-elected Provincial Superior

Brother Paul-Marie Taufana was re-elected Superior of the French Province of the Brothers of Saint John of God on 26 April 2022 in Lyon.

Brother Paul-Marie Taufana, aged 55, is originally from New Caledonia. He joined the Brothers in 1998, after obtaining a Master's degree in Health Strategy Management and a Master's degree in Internal Political Science. He made his solemn vows in 2007. Elected for the first time as Provincial Superior in 2018, he was re-elected by his Brothers for a new four-year term. The following four provincial councillors were also elected with him:

·                 Brother Mathieu Sisahaye, 1st Councillor

·                 Brother Jean-Guillaume Rasolondraibe, 2nd Councillor

·                 Brother Alain-Samuel Jeancler, 3rd Councillor

·                 Brother Jean-Marie Ramahefason, 4th Councillor

After two days of reflection and work on the guidelines for the new term of office which is beginning, the Brothers Hospitaliers were joined on Wednesday by some sixty co-workers from the centres in France. It was an opportunity to take stock of past activities and to reflect together on the future of the Saint John of God communities and centres in France, particularly with the arrival of new Congregational centres that joined the foundation in 2021.

"A Provincial Chapter is an opportunity for an in-depth reflection and discernment on the identity of the Institution and on its ability to continue to bear authentic and credible witness to the charism of Hospitality in a changing society. It is our history, our heritage, which is being projected into the future, rooted in what has been and what we will now be able to do, lay men and women and Religious together, fully and responsibly assuming co-responsibility for the Hospitaller Family." Brother Paul-Marie Taufana
