Brother Bonifacio Bonillo Fernández
Brother BONIFACIO BONILLO FERNÁNDEZ
Born at Cañaveruelas, a small town in Cuenca on 14 May 1899.
Died in Cordoba on 11 September 1978
From the necrology of the Bética Province:
"He was a good, simple and friendly Brother, but above all an excellent Hospitaller in the manner of St John of God. For 43 years he travelled the streets of the towns in the Córdoba Province, begging for alms for the children in the city hospital, even though in his later years he became very exhausted travelling in an old Land Rover".
"Even when he was admitted to hospital he continued his work, bearing witness to giving everyone of the peace and the joy of awaiting Christian resurrection".
"He died in Cordoba at the age of 79 and 52 years of religious profession in 1978.”
On 10 December 1972, in the presence of the civil and religious authorities of Córdoba, Brother Bonifacio was awarded the Cross of Charity First Class by the Spanish Government, with a white and gold badge.
