On Saturday, 3 October, 2020, the Brothers and Co-workers of the African
Province of Saint Richard Pampuri gathered around Brother Taddeo Carlesso in
thankgiving for the 50th anniversary of his profession in the Hospitaller
Order of St. John of God.
It was a day of great joy, culminating with the celebration of Mass at
the St. John of God Hospital in Afagnan (Togo), presided over by Mgr Isaac
Jogues Gaglo, the Bishop of the Diocese of Aného (Togo), where our Brothers officially
began their mission on July 4, 1964.
During the celebration, Brother Taddeo renewed his vows, and finally thanked
the Bishop, the Provincial Superior, the Priests, Brothers, Sisters and Co-workers
who had wanted to be present despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking on behalf of all the Brothers, the Provincial Superior, Brother
Rodrigue Djitrinou, who had received Brother Taddeo’s renewal of vows, thanked
everyone for attending the ceremony, and for sharing the joy of Fra Taddeo. “His
obedience and humility, and his sound management of temporal goods,” said Brother
Rodrigue, “are qualities to be imitated following the example of our Founder,
St. John of God.”
