Every year I take part in a foot pilgrimage to Czestochowa. For several years, during the pilgrimages I noticed a nurse, a Brother of St John of God, who had an incredible knack of always being in the right place at the right time, and always turned up wherever someone needed him to help the pilgrims, 24 hours a day, providing medical care and supporting them in every kind of need.
His example was an inspiration to many people, so much so that I often wondered where he found such enthusiasm and strength.
I have been working since March 2013 has a physiotherapist at the hospital in Piaski. And here I have encountered St John of God and his teaching, and I have understood the attitude of that Brother I mentioned at the beginning. Now everything is clear to me, but for me personally, it is still an unattainable ideal. For years I was seeking for a way to serve the sick, and I learned a great deal during many missionary journeys, but it was like groping in the dark. Finally, thanks to the Brothers of St John of God and their Founder, I have a personal formation programme and a concrete example for me to follow. The presence of God in the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the hospital chapel is a great source of energy to me, a place I always visit before and after work to refresh my strength. God has become for me the benchmark of all I do, and every day He helps me to understand the things in life that are really important.
