My work as a Co-worker with the Saint John of God Community Mental Health Centre has always been gratifying. From my youth I knew that I possessed a gift which I considered special, because I always have enjoyed being surrounded by people, and even more so by needy people, whom I have been able to provide with certain types of service, helping them to meet their health care, material and spiritual needs.
This is why my experience of being able to work with the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, completes my passion for service and makes it more present in my daily life. In my professional life as a Psychologist I share the mission and vision we have as an Order, more particularly so in my country which lacks high quality and welcoming hospital services. The presence of the Hospitaller Order has provided a fresh perspective to the sick and this has brought me into a closer relationship with the Brothers and Co-workers, and direct contact with the sick. The most beautiful thing is that we began from most simple to the most complex complex things, as John of God did, and as we do today, following his example; it is an honour for me to be a member of this family and to be an agent of change in these times, following in his footsteps, humanising and bringing love through our service to all those needing our assistance, remembering at all times that God dwells in each and every one of them.
