The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and its centres and facilities worldwide have been for me an example of vocation, hospitality, humanisation and service.

Since I joined the San Rafael University Hospital more than 20 years ago, the example, leadership and goodness of the Brothers have left their mark on my personal, human and professional life, leaving an indelible stamp which has changed the way I view the sick and the needy. They have taught me to look with eyes of compassion, solidarity, help and love, and overall respect for the human being.

I have learnt to admire, practise, protect and love the principles, ethos and values of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God.  The simplicity of the Brothers makes them unique. Their humble, compassionate and human care; the pain at others’ suffering, their concern for the disabled, and their indignation against injustice.

I have learnt to staunchly defend their organisation, ideas and work.

I have earnt to live my life as at home. I have learnt to love my work, to feel that this is the best place to be, with no wish to be anywhere else. I am happy here, where I am.

Thank you for having enabled me to share my personal, human and professional life with you. I feel proud to belong to the St John of God Family of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God.
