Big celebration at Afagnan in Togo
Solemn Professions and Diamond Jubilee of the Hospital
On Saturday,
6 July 2024, the St John of God Hospital in Afagnan celebrated its 60th
anniversary. For the occasion, the hospital's central courtyard welcomed a
large crowd of Brothers, collaborators, faithful, family members and various
personalities. The Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop of Aneho, Mons. Isaac
Jogues GAGLO, in concelebration with numerous religious and diocesan priests.
During the celebration, Brothers Matthieu BAMELA and Charles NAGASSI pronounced
their solemn vows, and Brothers Cyriaque AGNAN, Eric FOLLY and Pierre CHARDEY
gave thanks to God for 25 years of religious life. As Brother Hugues ASSOU,
Provincial Superior, emphasised, this jubilee was an opportunity for the entire
Hospitaller family of the Province of St. Richard Pampuri of Africa to renew
their fidelity to the Charism of Hospitality. Recalling that the St John of God
Hospital in Afagnan, Togo, was inaugurated on 4 July 1964 by the Brothers of
the Lombardo-Venetian Province of Italy, we also point out that this and other
celebrations marked the end of the Provincial Canonical Visitation which took
place from Sunday 02 June 2024 to Thursday 04 July 2024.
