Meeting of the Enlarged General Definitory

The General Curia hosted the first meeting of the year of the Enlarged General Definitory on 10-13 July, 2017 attended by Brothers Jesús Etayo (Prior General), Rudolf Knopp, Giampietro Luzzato, Benigno Ramos, Pascal Ahodegnon, Joseph Smith, Jairo Urueta, José Maria Bermejo, Moisés Martin and André Sène (Secretary-General).

 

After hearing the reports on the activities performed in every Region, the General Definitory addressed a number of items on the agenda, including the reports on the recent Canonical Visitations to the following Provinces: Aragon, Austria, Southern South America, Portugal and Viet Nam, as well as to Tiber Island Hospital in Rome. Other important items included the Assembly of Major Superiors (October 2017): the programme, topics and animation; the 2018 Provincial Chapters: convocation, pre-Capitular meetings, points to bear in mind at the Chapters, Meeting of the new Provincial Superiors following the Chapters: guidelines for drafting the programme; dates etc: the 2019 General Chapter: information on the work already completed, the preparatory document, appointment of the Logistics Commission and other organisational matters. The General Chapter had asked the Enlarged Definitory to make its contribution, particularly with regard to the document currently in the process of preparation.

The members updated the meeting on the work of the General Commissions and the Missions and International Cooperation Office, and reported on the work of the various Regional Commissions: Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific.
