I have known the Brothers of St John of God since 1995. I spent five years working at the Social Welfare Centre at Konary and subsequently in the A&E intensive care unit at the Brothers of St John of God hospital in Kraków.
It was in 2011 that work began on setting up a Pastoral Team, and it was then that I began taking classes at the Pastoral Service School run by the Brothers. This was a period of reflection for me in which I became really familiar with St John of God. This might sound strange considering that I had already been working in the Order’s facilities for 15 years. But it was only during this formation period that I really began to look to St John of God in admiration. When we finished the school, some of us went to visit Granada. It was a very important moment for us, intended as it was to fully acquaint us with John of God by following along his path, in his footsteps through the streets of Granada. Since 2013 I have been the part-time coordinator of the Pastoral Team. Thanks to this, I can help our co-workers and patients to discover God through St John of God.
Our team is able to develop a number of pastoral projects and I am delighted to see so many good things that our Co-workers are able to do. By working together, inspired by the Hospitaller charism, great things can be done. There are obviously many difficulties, but help is always at hand to overcome them. Entering the hospital on the right-hand side there is John of God looking on us, and on the left is our patron, St John Grande. Every morning we therefore have the assurance that with intercessors like these, everything will go according to God’s will.
