My name is Peter. When I was younger I tried two religious congregations but I left them and, as I grew up, I decided that I was not suitable for religious life. So, I began studying medicine with the desire to heal people. Although I felt loved and valued in my family I also felt unsure about my future. I felt a certain emptiness in my life and that I needed to find some way of giving my life meaning. I shared those feelings with the members of my family. They recommended that I should think again about “offering myself to God”. I thought deeply about the recommendation of my relatives and finally came to the conclusion that I should offer myself to God in the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God. As I was inducted into the initial formation program of the Order I felt my soul reach a state of peace. I found that the spirituality of Hospitality harmonizes with my own spirituality in which I feel called to follow Jesus in his ministry of healing the sick and revealing the Kingdom of God to the poor. I can express and nourish my sense of John of God Hospitality through the Mass, prayer and contemplation. I feel happy knowing that my life will be one of helping care for people who are sick, suffering and unhappy. I hope that, with God’s grace, I will always loyal to my Hospitaller Vocation.
