The first transnational meeting of the
MOVE ON project for the rehabilitation of patients through personalised
programmes of motor activity and physical exercise practised in special areas within
social and health facilities, financed with the EU subsidy for which the
Brussels 'Hospitality Europe' office had applied, is taking place on 25 and 26
June at the St John of God Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The new MOVE
ON project is being coordinated by the Brothers of St John of God Centre in
Kainbach bei Graz (Austria) and is being implemented by the St John of God
Foundation - Lisbon (Portugal), the St John of GodHospital - Santa Cruz in
Tenerife (Spain), the St John of God Institute - Genzano di Roma (Italy)
jointly with the Sisters Hospitallers'
Purísima Concepción Foundation - Granada (Spain). The original title of
the project is "MOtivating patients to Voluntary physical Exercise
Outside Nursing programmes" (English acronym: MOVE ON) and its
objective is to share and promote in Europe the most effective programmes to
maintain the psycho-physical health of our guests even after they have
completed their therapy and treatments, while ensuring that they are following a
nutritious diet, and bearing in mind the importance of diagnostic prevention
and respect for the environment. The MOVE ON project has been judged very
positively by the European Commission for the very practical and direct way it is
contributing to the EU's 'HealthyLifeStyle4All' exercise to promote a healthy
lifestyle for all generations and social groups, to improve the health and
well-being of Europe's citizens. At the Tenerife meeting, the partners will be
discussing the factors and motivational strategies that promote regular
exercise and healthy, active lifestyles for the people in our care. In addition
to visiting the Order's Hospital and the Centre for people with disabilities,
the participants will also be meeting delegates from the local health
authorities and sports federations.
The next MOVE
ON project meeting will be hosted by the San Giovanni di Dio Institute in
Genzano di Roma (Italy) on 25-27 September 2024.
