The Europe regional
Pastoral Care Working Group met in person on 30 and 31 October 2023, attended
by Laura Zorzela, representing the Lombardy-Veneto and Rome Provinces, Brother
Thomas Väth, representing the Bavarian, Austrian and Polish Provinces, Thomas
Callies, representing the French Province, Lourdes Casas representing the Spanish
Province and Susana Queiroga representing the Portuguese Province, who chaired
the group.
On the agenda for the
30th were the criteria for assessing spiritual needs, the profile of the
Religious and Spiritual Care Co-worker, a reflection on the resourced platform
and the definitions used in the Order's pastoral care book. On the morning of
the 31st, the projects being implemented in each province were shared, and a
number of suggestions were made for the future functioning of the working
group. Since the General Chapter would take place in a year's time, the group
would not be holding another working meeting, but would meet online to work on
pastoral care using the Sensing methodology adopted for the preparation of the
Chapter.
