During their 10-day stay (27 June - 7 July) our guests visited the most
interesting and beautiful places in the Podhale Mountains and the Malopolska
region. They visited Krakow, among other places, where they visited the Royal
Castle, the Cathedral on the Royal Wawel Hill and walked along the Royal Route.
They also took a trip by narrow-gauge railway to the peat bogs of Czarny
Dunajec, accompanied by a guide, who told them the ins and outs of this unique
ecosystem. After the trip, they enjoyed a campfire with games led by a
children's entertainer.
On two occasions, the Ukrainian group travelled
to the Chocholow thermal pools. They also visited the Koscieliska Valley and
the Ku Diurze Valley, as well as the town of Zakopane to see its landscapes and
other features and sites in the area. During their stay, the Brothers organised
an excursion to the Rabkoland amusement park where the group spent the whole
day. In their free time the children enjoyed events with an entertainer and
they had a summer ice sports hall to play in, very close to their accommodation.
The Mayor of the City and tTown Council of
Czarny Dunajec highlighted his pleasure to have been able to work with the
Order of St John of God, especially because this initaive had done so much good
and brought so much joy to these people who had been suffering from this
atrocious war.
We are duty bound to help, relieve and
demonstrate our sympathy; and we know that hearts that are sensitive to the
suffering of others make this world a better place, and such a world has
absolutely no room for war.
