The Revival project partners from Centres of the Order and the Sisters
Hospitallers in Portugal, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Poland and Germany met in
Thessaloniki/Greece at the offices of the Greek partner, Theatro Aratos, from
31.01. to 02.02.2023.
The meeting viewed, evaluated and perfected the videos produced by the
creative partners (Theatro Aratos, Fundación Jesus Abandonado and Fundación
Instituto San José) to be posted on the Project website.
The videos are intended to be a means of quickly and informally demonstrating
the methods used by the theatrical world, and to develop the skills needed to apply
them in the performing arts ,and then to try them out. The first results can be
seen on the project webpage -
Another purpose of the meeting was to deal with the topic of the pandemic
and lockdown and the associated difficulties they caused, from the point of
view of culture and the people affected – in this case, people with
disabilities and practitioners – using the ‘empathy method’. The result of this
method will be summarised in guidelines, rules and instructions on how to work
better in future using digital tools and how to use them in our Centres. All
the partners clearly appreciated the importance of creating opportunities for everyone
to become involved in culture, even in difficult times.
There is still a great deal of work to be done before the end of the
project: in March, the partners will be meeting people with disabilities in
Murcia, Spain, to present their experiences using theatrical tools. In April,
there will also be a symposium on 'Digital Theatre Methods without Barriers'
for anyone interested. In any case, it is well worth dipping into the project
website www.revivalproject.eu from time to time.
