From 28 July to
3 August, a group of Young Hospitallers from Spain took part in the European
Youth Pilgrimage (EYP). The group was made up of young people linked to the
Brothers of St John of God and the Sisters Hospitallers and a number of
Brothers, novices from the European Novitiate in Brescia, and some postulants
from the Europe Region.
Santiago de
Compostela became the European Youth Capital for a few days, during which there
were some moments of intense faith and encounter, among which in particular we
recall the catechesis by the bishops, the “vocation portico”, formation workshops,
recreational activities, concerts... It was a very interesting experience of
sharing in the Church and an opportunity to get to know each other.
And the best way
to get to Santiago de Compostela was by taking a few stages along the
Portuguese Way of St James, from Vigo to Santiago de Compostela, a few days
beforehand, in order to make a pilgrimage to the tomb of the Apostle St James.
One special feature of these days of pilgrimage together was the chance to
share some of these moments with the guests of our Brothers of St John of God
San Rafael centre in Vigo.
We are so
grateful for all those who worked on organising this event, especially the San
Rafael Centre in Vigo, for their kind hospitality and for opening their home to
welcome us in.
