On Sunday, 5 May 2019, the Brothers and Co-workers of the Order’s apostolic centres in southern Benin and southern Togo belonging to the African Province of Saint Richard Pampuri gathered in a village named Grand Popo, in Benin, not far from the sea, to celebrate the Feast of Saint Richard Pampuri, the Patron and Protector of the Province, and Labour Day in a spirit of great jubilation.
The day began with an open-air celebration of Mass followed by lunch and games organised to involve everyone present for the occasion. It was a great opportunity for the Brothers and Co-workers from the Province’s 3 centres to forge bonds of friendship, and enhance the St John of God Family spirit in this young Province.
This first joint celebration enabled some 160 Brothers and Co-workers to join forces to praise our Lord for all His gifts.
Everything took place in an atmosphere of brotherly celebration, and before returning home they all expressed the wish to repeat the same experience next year.
