Portuguese Brothers came to India in 1685 and founded Communities and Hospitals. The last of their 4 foundations became extinct in 1835.
Thereafter, Brothers (Fortunatus Thanhäuser and Prakash Madappally) from the Rhine Province in Germany arrived at Kattappana (South India) on 19 November 1969 and started the first foundation. Today the Order has grown into a Province with 55 members and eight Communities & many apostolic Centres.
On 19 November 2019 the Order completes 50 years in India. So, we are in the Jubilee year. The inauguration of the Jubilee Year was held at Kattappana on 18 November 2018. The Solemn Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Kanjirapally, Mar Jose Pulickal. The chief guest of the public gathering, Sri. Justice (retd.) P. Sathasivam (Governor of Kerala), inaugurated the Jubilee Year. Many Brothers, including Provincial Br. Yanka Sharma, Sisters, Priests, Staff, Students, Well-wishers & many others were present.
