On 6 March, 2018, at the Antonianum in Rome, the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life officially presented its latest document, providing guidelines on the Economy at the Service of the Charism and Mission, attended by H.E. Card. Joăo Braz de Aviz and Mgr José Rodriguez Carballo, the Prefect and the Secretary of the CIVCSVA, respectively.
This document has been written to help Religious Institutes, that have had to come to terms with economic problems in recent years, and provides criteria and practical guidelines for the management of goods while, the same time, urging them to become increasingly more aware of the importance of economics.
After the introduction and presentation of the document by the Prefect and the Secretary of the Congregation, a number of speakers explained the structural, canon law and legal/managerial aspects of the document before the large audience mainly of religious men and women, as well as members of the laity. The Order was represented by the Prior General, Brother Jesús Etayo, the Secretary-General, Brother André Sčne, and two Co-workers from the General Curia, Silvia Farina and Pietro Cacciarelli.
For the moment, the document is only available in Italian and Spanish, but the English and French versions are scheduled to be published shortly.
