St. John of God Fundraising Alliance

The members ofthe Saint John of God Fundraising Alliance convened on 22 September at theProvincial Curia of the French Province of Saint John of God fortheir regular meeting. It was attended by the following members: representingUMICOI, Bro. Moisés Martín Boscá, and Bro.GiampietroLuzzato, for the St. John of God Development Company (IRELAND) Messrs. JohnFleming and David Heyer, for Juan Ciudad ONGD (SPAIN) Bro. José María Viadero and Mr.. Xisco Munoz Espuig, forAFMAL  (ITALY) Mr. Antonio Barnaba, MrsAlessandra Ricci and Mrs Monica Angeletti, for Fundação São João de Deus (PORTUGAL)Mr. Rui Amaral, for the North American Good Shepherd Province Bro. RichardMacPhee and Mr. Alan Whittle, for AAJIP Mrs. Jeanne-Françoise de Polignac andthe Provincial Superior, Bro. Alain-Samuel Jancler, as the host Province. Alsopresent were Mr. Dominique Soupe for the Missions Office and Dr. Vergés, Presidentof the Friends of Afagnan et Tanguiéta Association.

Brother FraAlain-Samuel took the floor in his capacity asProvincial Superior, and welcomed all the members to the French Province,thanking them for their commitment and the commitment of their associations, assistingthe least. Brother Fortunée warmly welcomed everyone and wished them a successful meeting and a wonderful stay. The Director of UMICOI, Brother MoisésMartin Boscá, opened the meeting with spiritual input and then gave the floorto each of the associations and foundations asking them to report on theiractivities, and to update the meeting on progress with their projects since thelast meeting in Naples.

Particular attention focused on the French Province’s Missions Office andall its activities which were also supported by Dr Vergés’s Friends of Afagnan andTanguiéta Association which was celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The discussions, reflections and reports of the Associations produced anumber of proposals and advice. Brother Moisés summed up the things that hadbeen achieved since 2003 and how the Alliance had tried to meet the needs of all,while leaving each NGO with their own identity and independence. They were all workingfor one single common objective in the footsteps of our Founder Saint John ofGod, namely, to help our neighbour, seeking “to do good, well”. It wasessential for the work of everyone to be transparent, and that they had to accountfor all the expenditure of the funds raised and allocated.

At the end of the meeting, the Superior General, Brother Jesús gave his bestwishes for their work, always at the service of the poorest.

Lastly, Brother Moisés Martín Boscá expressed his gratitude to all the membersand invited them to the next meeting scheduled to be held in the first few monthsof 2018.
