The Africa Regional Commission
On 30 April and 2 May 2017 the Africa Regional Commission (CREA) held its annual meeting at Agoé-Nyivé Lomé (Togo), attended by Brothers Pascal AHODEGNON, André SENE, Bartholomew KAMARA, Boniface SAMBIENI, Rodrigue DJITRINOU and Paulinus TOH. Brother Michael KOROMA could not attend because he was in Sierra Leone only on business connected with his mission.
The meeting opened with a prayer led by Brother Pascal AHODEGNON, President of the Commission who called to mind all the Brothers and Co-workers who were carrying forward the mission in Africa and in particular in the countries stricken by the Ebola epidemic. He then prayed for the simple profession of several Brothers to be held on 1 May, the Solemnity of Saint Richard Pampuri, the Patron of the African Vice-Province and the Novitiate.
As on other occasions, the Commission reviewed the life and mission of the Order in the region and took stock of the work of the Province and the Vice Province in the light of the Chapter priority lines of action, to evaluate what had been done so far. This was followed by a follow-up review of the resolutions adopted by CREA at the last meeting, and the work of the regional subcommissions. The meeting was then briefed on the Canonical Visitations conducted in the Region, the preparatory work for the conferences and Provincial Chapters which will be held in 2018, and the 2019 General Chapter.
On 1 May, the members of the CREA attended the celebration in honour of Saint Richard Pampuri, as the Patron of the Vice Province and the Lomé Interprovincial Novitiate (Togo) in the course of which six Brothers made their simple vows in the Hospitaller Family of St John of God, and another seven young men entered the Novitiate.
