For the Holy Year of Mercy, the Austrian Province of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God held an artistic competition for its Co-workers, inviting them to enter their artistic composiitons depicting the values of the Order: hospitality, quality, respect, responsibility and spirituality. In addition to the general section, the competition had separate sections on poetry, photography, and painting.

Altogether, 28 different works were entered in the four sections and the winners were selected by a four-member jury, composed of Mrs Brigitte Veinfurter (editor of the Journal Granatapfel), Mr Adolf Inzinger (General Manager of the Province), Mrs Liane Bauer (communications) and the Provincial Superior, Brother Joachim Mačejovský.

The award ceremony was held on 13 January in Vienna, at which all the entrants received a certificate and a gift in recognition of their participation.
